Since we launched National Care Leavers' Day in 2002, National Care Leavers' Week has become an established part of the autumn calendar. National Care Leavers' Week is essential in order to raise awareness among public and politicians alike about the ongoing needs of care leavers, and the inadequate levels of support which these young people receive when they leave care.

National Care Leavers' Week is a joint initiative of all the major charities working with and for care leavers and is coordinated by the Bryn Melyn Group Foundation. Supporting organisations include A National Voice, National Care Leavers Advisory Service, Rainer, Voice, Voices from Care, Barnardo's, Care Leavers' Association, Shaftesbury, Centrepoint

National Care Leavers' Week events have also been supported by SCIE, ADSS, GMB, FCA, CareandHealth, Young People Now, Bollington Insurance, Resource Partners, Educare, Greencorns, Hillcrest, Northern Care, Continuum Care andnthe Bryn Melyn Group

National Care Leavers' Week 2008 takes place from 26th - 31st October. Titled 'Every Care Leaver Matters', National Care Leavers Week this year encourages Government to ensure that the forthcoming Children and Young People's Bill does not miss any opportunities to improve the life chances of children leaving care whatever their circumstances. The National Care Leavers' Week website will be updated throughout August with details of events and activities during NCLW.
